Individual and Group Therapeutic Sessions

“Drama Therapy is an active, experiential approach to facilitating change. Through storytelling, projective play, purposeful improvisation, and performance, participants are invited to rehearse desired behaviors, practice being in relationship, expand and find flexibility between life roles, and perform the change they wish to be and see in the world.”

-North American Drama Therapy Website

The use of theatre tools and techniques makes drama therapy one of the most ‘embodied’ forms of mental health support. What does this mean? As more and more of the mind/body connection is studied, it is apparent that to achieve transformative healing, the body has to be involved in the process just as much as the brain.

Enter Drama Therapy. Each session will be completely and utterly unique to a client’s needs in that moment. A one-hour session could include (but would not limited to):

  • breathwork

  • mindful movement

  • writing or acting a scene

  • improvisational role portrayal

  • “trying on “ different characters or different emotions

  • drawing, painting, making a collage

  • writing a piece for public performance

  • telling stories and acting them out

  • sitting, standing, dancing, running, twirling, jumping

  • Just a client and the therapist

  • a group of people interested in solving the same problems, or supporting each other

  • so much more
